Thesis

Web 4.0 apps.
Built slowly. Built to last.

w4app is a Helsinki product studio. We build a portfolio of focused AI-companion apps for personal-life verticals — categories where users currently pay humans for advice, coaching, or interpretation. Below is what we believe about this work.

01

Depth over breadth.

A generalist AI assistant is good at everything and great at nothing. A specialist AI companion that knows your sleep, your training history, your last blood panel, and how you actually eat — that's a different product. We build the specialist, vertical by vertical.

02

Privacy at the architecture level.

Personal-life data is special-category. We treat it that way. Health records, mood entries, food photos, voice — they stay on the user's device. AI processing uses short anonymized prompts that aren't retained on our servers. We don't sell data, train models on user content, or run ads. Trust is built once and lost once.

03

The pace good software demands.

Health and mental-health apps that ship every two weeks are usually bad. Apps that ship once a quarter — with a clear improvement each time — are usually good. We optimize for that second pattern. A new product enters discovery only when the previous one has its rhythms right.

04

Wellness, never medical claims.

Our products are wellness companions, not medical devices. We don't diagnose, treat, prescribe, or cure. Every AI output points back to the user's healthcare provider when stakes are real. This is a constraint, and we welcome it — it keeps the product honest and the user safer.

What this looks like in practice

HealthMate is the first product to embody this thesis. It launches on the App Store this summer.
